Ingredients
7 OZ / 200 G vegetable shortening
8 OZ / 220 G sugar
1 EA egg
1 TSP baking powder
1 TSP vanilla extract
9 OZ / 250 G cake flour
9 OZ / 250 G ground almonds
1 TSP orange zest
Directions
Add your shortening and sugar to the mixing bowl with the butterfly whisk inserted. Beat the shortening and sugar for 20 seconds / speed 3. Scrape down the sides of the mixing bowl.
Add the egg, baking powder, vanilla, cake flour, ground almonds and orange zest to the mixing bowl. Mix for 1 minute / speed 3. Remove the dough from the mixing bowl, wrap it in plastic and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Sprinkle a little flour on a surface and divide the dough. Form balls on a pan with parchment paper on top, and crush them a little bit with your hands.
Bake the polvorones at 180°C / 360°F for 15 minutes. Cool down the polvorones.
TIP: Freeze the polvorones for 10 minutes before baking.
Sprinkle powdered sugar on top. Enjoy your polvorones!
